At GoodFX, part of our Theory of Change is to increase the number of small charities supported by our business. We believe they can make a real impact on the lives of those in need, yet with limited resources it's hard for them to shout above the noise.

We want to use our platform, which connects us to a huge number of corporates, and our business model, which creates charitable donations with every FX trade, to benefit these small charities.
Hence, our monthly "Spotlight" series has been launched to shine a light on small charities we love, and hope you do too...
Francis Mwangangi at Pamoja Children's Charity
Pamoja Children's Charity is a small but remarkable organisation, founded by Francis N Mwangangi. Based in Mityana, Uganda, it is changing lives and creating hope for vulnerable children.

Francis's story is one of resilience and compassion: he started by collecting clothes to help children in need and gradually gained government support to officially establish the charity.
His charity now provides support to 25 children, many of whom are refugees, orphans, or vulnerable children. These young souls face various challenges, and Pamoja is their beacon of hope.
Prioritising education and health
Pamoja Children's Charity channels its resources towards key areas to make a lasting impact on the children's lives. Education is a top priority, with support provided for school fees, uniforms, and materials. The charity also ensures the children have access to clean water, nutritious food, and essential medical care.
Moreover, Pamoja recognises the importance of addressing the specific needs of girls, including providing sanitary pads, to ensure their overall well-being and education are not compromised.

Funding Pamoja's future
One of the major challenges the charity faces is the need for a stable home. Currently, they rent a place to accommodate the children, but their vision is to build their own facility, which they estimate will cost around 300 to 500 million Uganda shillings. This home will not only provide shelter but also include educational and medical facilities to enhance the children's overall well-being.
The charity relies on various sources of income to sustain its operations. They engage in small-scale projects such as agriculture and renting out a car to generate revenue. However, continuous support remains a challenge, and that's where corporate and individual supporters can really make a difference
